Rubber Roof
|
How's the roof on your RV
|
Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber roofing, which was first introduced
to the RV market in 1983 and is continuing to make gains against the traditional one-piece
aluminum roof, according to EPDM suppliers and RV makers
But perhaps the most important EPDM characteristic is the products ability to shed surface water and protect the substructure.
The EPDM roof as a type of giant gasket, you cover the whole unit so there is less possibility of leaks.

Ongoing Routine Care and Maintenance
|
|
Inspect the roof often for signs of ware, holes, chalking.
- They seal excellent, but are sensitive to dry air and the UV rays in sunlight.
- You can always tell a neglected rubber roof by the white streaks coming down over the windows on an RV. "chalking".
- To protect from this, you must clean the roof each season or more if necessary with a long-handled brush and mild soap and water, then apply a sealing compound found in any RV parts or supply store.
- Its not as difficult as it may seem, but you can't fly off that roof, nor do you want to. It may be a little wiser to pay someone to do it for you
